Right now, I'm probably in one of three places: at the office designing the next business move, in the gym preparing for the day, or spending time with my family.
This is who I am—a builder who sees opportunities where others see obstacles, who creates solutions for problems others ignore, and who's teaching the next generation that building isn't just about what you create. It's about who you become.
My brother and I represent the third generation—the ones who typically coast on what was built. We had other plans.
But maintaining isn't building. And 97% of family businesses fail by the fourth generation—not because the money runs out, but because the builder's mindset doesn't transfer.
So I decided to break the pattern.
At 2 AM in El Paso, with equipment failing and costs mounting, I learned my most valuable lesson: You don't become who you're meant to be when things go right. You become that person when everything goes wrong and you choose to continue anyway.
That 78-hour marathon job taught me that heroes are exciting, but professionals are rich. We rebuilt our entire business moving forward around systems we developed from that job, not so the work became beautiful.
